Steve Rogoff - Kauai Urgent Care

Steve Rogoff, MD

Raised in Los Angeles, Dr Steve Rogoff graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from the UC Berkeley. He completed his residency through UC San Francisco and was board certified in Family Practice medicine with additional post-graduate training in pediatrics. He moved to Hawaii in 2002 where he practices family medicine, emergency medicine, and functional integrative medicine. In addition to being a dedicated physician, Dr. Rogoff enjoys surfing, music, traveling and writing. His first novel, Nazca, was followed by his collection of short stories, Colors and Shadows. He lives on Kauai with his wife Tracey, their son Sawyer and daughters Cassidy and Siena.

Jim Winkler - North Shore Urgent Care

James Winkler, PA-C

Jim Winkler has practiced medicine in Hawaii for 26 years. He serves as President of Kauai Community Health Alliance while also caring for patients as a medical provider at Hale Lea Medicine & Urgent Care. Winkler graduated class president from the USC School of Medicine Primary Care PA Program in 1984 and has advanced training in functional & integrative medicine. Teaching appointments include Pacific College, and the Fort Collins Family Medicine Residency Program. Professional memberships include the New York Academy of Sciences, and the Greater Los Angeles Nutrition Council. Winkler has been a published medical newspaper columnist for many years. He is also the founding director of a non-profit humanitarian organization, the Amicus Foundation, which sponsors projects in medicine, education, women’s needs and cultural preservation. Also a professional musician Winkler has performed with Charles Mingus, Gabor Zabo, Benny Powell, Johnny Guitar Watson, Alex Acuna (Weather Report), Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead), Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Todd Rundgren, Makana and others, and has worked as a feature film composer. He presently resides in Hawaii with his wife, a children’s writer/illustrator, Dorianne.

Mary Cameron, FNP, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Mary Cameron joined the Hale Lea team in 2008. She graduated from Northern Arizona University in the Rural Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 2004 earning a Masters in Science with additional training in pediatrics. She comes with experience in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine and Women’s Health. Prior to becoming an FNP, Mary worked as a registered nurse since the age of twenty. Ms. Cameron is currently a member of the American Academy of Nurse practitioners, the Academy of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Hawaii State Professional Nurses Association. Mary focuses on a holistic approach to healthcare designed to meet every individual’s need. She is especially interested in infant/child health, women’s healthcare, urgent care, and preventive medicine. You may see Mary out and about on the island sailing, kayaking, swimming and hiking. She loves her home on Kauai, and we love having Mary in our home at Hale Lea Medicine.

Urgent Care Doctor - Hale Lea

Larry Raithaus, MD

Larry brings to Hale Lea clinic his expertise as a board certified urologist. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Raithaus was board certified in family practice in 1979. He completed his urology residency at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles and subsequently became board certified in urology in 1983. Dr. Raithaus has been a fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1985. As Kauai’s only resident urologist from 1990 to 2000, Dr. Raithaus has been responsible for the introduction of many urological practice innovations. He performed the first laser treatments for BPH in the state of Hawaii. In addition to his urological practice, Dr. Raithaus has conducted research on the use of Shark Liver Extract for the treatment of cancer. He brings over 26 years of experience in urological practice to Hale Lea’s North Shore clinic, and enjoys a strong rapport with his patients.

Arthur Brownstein, MD

Dr. Arthur Brownstein, MD is a public health & general preventive medicine specialistat working at Hale Lea Medicine & Urgent Care. He has been practicing medicine for 35 years. He graduated from Jefferson Med College at Thomas Jefferson University in 1980, specializing in public health & general preventive medicine as well as primary and urgent care. He is the author of two books: Healing Back Pain Naturally, and Extraordinary Healing. He has been a clinical instructor of medicine at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and has worked for many years with the celebrated physician and researcher Dean Ornish, MD. His service to the North Shore community of Kauai for the last 3 decades has been extraordinary.

Physical Therapist

Todd Strong, PT

Todd was born in Charleston, South Carolina and majored in exercise science. He then attended the Medical University of South Carolina earning a masters degree in physical therapy. Todd worked at Wilcox hospital for many years before becoming chief therapist at Hale Lea’s North Shore Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. Todd loves the ocean, and when he isn’t providing physical therapy for patients he is usually surfing. diving and paddling. His goal is to create a world class physical therapy clinic to bring out the best in all of us through rehabilitation and exercise.

Kauai Community Health Alliance (KCHA) has put together an Advisory Council and Board that includes prominent citizens in the community and experts in the areas of medicine, nutrition, law, special needs of teenagers, the elderly and other groups, substance abuse and addiction, mental health services and sustainable community building.

    Harvey L. Cohen is a Princeville, Kauai based attorney specializing in real estate and business law. From 2003 through 2007, Harvey served as President of the Board of Directors of the Kekahu Foundation, the licensee for KKCR, Kauai’s independent, noncommercial, community radio station. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of the Kauai Community Health Alliance, he is a Board member of the Nature of Hope, a San Francisco based non-profit focused on introducing the study of biomimicry to public schools, as well as the Kauai Island Council of the Hawai‘i Island Land Trust, a non-profit organization committed to working with private landowners, community groups, and government partners to protect Hawai‘i’s precious lands.
  • Chris Jaeb

    North Shore Kauai resident, Cameron C. (Chris) Jaeb was born in Caledonia, Minnesota but spent most of his childhood and adult life in Dallas, Texas. In 1994 Chris founded Audionet, the first company to broadcast real time audio programming on the Internet. Audionet changed its name to Broadcast.com and in July of 1998 had a successful public stock offering. In 2002, Chris and his wife Brenda moved to Kilauea Hawaii. They have two children, Makena and Dylan. Chris has spent the past few years playing with his kids and learning about businesses and organizations that are environmentally and socially conscious. He believes Kauai possesses a range of resources that could make it a world class model for sustainable living. In June of 2006, Chris and Keone Kealoha founded Malama Kauai, a public charity established to build self reliant and self sufficient communities.
